The MP4 has the captions burned in, so they show on any app and viewers cannot turn them off. An .srt or .vtt file sits beside the video, and viewers can switch it on or off. Is the caption generator really free?

Yes. Your first 2 clips need no account, and after that you get 5 minutes a month with Google sign-in. There is no card and no trial end date. If you need more, Pro is $5 a month for 100 minutes.

Do I need to install anything?

No. The studio runs in your browser. MP4 export needs Chrome, Edge or Safari, and subtitle files work in any browser.

Is there a watermark on free exports?

No. Free and paid exports are the same file, with no logo on it.

Is my video uploaded to a server?

No. The video stays on your device. Only the audio track is sent for transcription, and ReelCaption does not store it.
